Is there a DIKU VPN and do I have access to it as a student?

What I am mostly interested in, is to get access to the eduroam network from home. I want to be able to have access to research papers without the need to be in eduroam. Is that possible?

I don't think there are VPN servers set up for students. Although, if the only thing you want is to access research sites with University credentials, I suggest you set up a SOCKS proxy with ssh (ssh xxx@host -D proxyPort) to any of the machines you have access to, and configure your browser to use that proxy port. You will effectively be routing through the campus network from the web's perspective and the research sites will open the content to you.

That sounds a lot like what I was trying to do last night. Can't I use proxy.diku.dk? If yes, do I need to authenticate?

I always use ask.diku.dk, but any machine inside the university network that you can get your hands on will suffice. To get access you will normally have to use your KU or DIKU account.
