From GMail, Outlook, Mail.app, etc. you can retrieve your emails through POP3 or IMAP and respond through SMTP.

Here are the settings:

  • POP3: exchange.ku.dk:995 (SSL)
  • IMAP: exchange.ku.dk:993 (SSL)
  • SMTP: exchange.ku.dk:465 (TLS)

It appears this no longer works, at least in Thunderbird?

I found this guide: http://it.ku.dk/english/students/email_and_calendar/guides/Thunderbird-IMAP-English.pdf with basically the same information as given in your post, but while receiving mail works fine, it doesn't succeed in sending it, so maybe something related to the SMTP settings changed?

Or am I the only one experiencing this?

The POP3/SMTP settings still works for me. I'm employed, but I don't think that should do any difference.

Changed KU-net password recently?

My solution: Contacted support, and on the basis of their suggestion I changed "Connection security" from SSL/TLS to STARTTLS, but keeping the same port, port 465, in the SMTP settings and now it works.

Strange that it still works with you/others with the other settings.

You can also this guide to set it up as an Exchange server instead. I can confirm it works on OS X as well as iOS.
