How do I get matlab to work on a mac using the license from Kunet? I follow the instructions but just before installing it says:

There are no products available to install from this location. You may need to download the appropriate products from our web-site (www.mathworks.com).

Edit: Im on a mac with Lion.

I had the same problem and eventually solved it. Here are the steps that pretty much worked (and should be applicable on Linux and Windows too):

  1. Create an account on mathworks.com using your @alumni.ku.dk email address and add the KU activation code
  2. Run the MATLAB installer program
  3. Login using your new account
  4. Follow the steps - you will need to type in the activation code one more time. It will download what it needs from their servers

Good luck!

Note, it is easier to download the installer from the Mathworks site, and requires substantially less space than getting the DVD image from kunet.

For some people the Java installer doesn't work, and you have to download all the plugins manually (I did that myself). It's still easier than using the image from KUnet.

Ok this wasn't a complete answer but I think it got me some of the way. I followed steps 1-3, but step 4 was too vague. Instead I did the following:

  1. I logged in at mathworks

  2. I pressed 'My account' -> 'Manage licenses' -> 'Add license' -> 'Activation key' -> 'Continue' -> Pasted license number from Kunet -> 'Continue' -> 'Done'

  3. I then pressed the newly added license and selected 'Download products'

  4. After that I followed the reasonably straightforward guide.

I managed to install Matlab without having to do anything other than following "the offline guide". There's a special offline key in the license file you download from KUNet[0].
